Do schools look at individual ACT scores?

I am just not a science person. About the only B’s I received were in science classes (biology, chemistry, physics). I took the ACT last spring and scored fairly well for the schools I’m looking at on the other 3 parts (E28, M27,R25) but my science score was abyssmal bringing my composite score down to 23. I’m retaking on Oct. 27th but I’m wondering if colleges might look at my stronger showing on the other 3 parts? I’ve got a 3.65 GPA at a very competitive college prep school in the DC area and am applying to Pepperdine and Santa Clara. Strong EC’s (varsity football, v. basketball, v. lacrosse), student government, newspaper, Habitat, school ambassador). Any thoughts?

No, unlike the SAT where they look at individual parts, Admissions committes look at the whole ACT exam (no mixing and matching)
