So I’m a freshman in highschool and I have been itching to do a study abroad/volunteer abroad/outdoor activities abroad/really anything interesting or different abroad since I was very young. I had been planning to attend a summer camp in europe, but now Im thinking I might want to do something more drastic and extreme (maybe outdoorsy or very studious?).
Does anyone have any ideas of what I should do?

lol, i second faux’s question…I clicked on the thread with the intent of saying nuke something :). I would suppose doing a summer program with NASA or CSA would be nice…or a hiking trip in italy…or climb everest…or help build a hospital in africa…the world is full of possibilities

I agree that drastic is an…interesting…word to use. I would suggest just doing a google search of “teen volunteer abroad” and see what comes up, as it looks to be a good experience and I’m sure you can find one cheap.

I studied abroad in Switzerland my junior year through a program called AFS; I lived with a host family and went to school there, and my credits were able to transfer back to my high school.
I really really encourage you to study abroad; it’s an absolutely amazing experience and you’ll learn a lot about yourself. If you’re learning a language or you want to learn one, study abroad is awesome; you’ll learn the language very quickly and if you want to go to a country where you don’t speak the language at all it’s not a problem; AFS provides a 1-month intensive language study to teach you the basics.
Check out afsusa.org and please feel free to ask me any questions about study abroad. :P
