NYU’s known average SAT score is somewhere around 2000. However, is that possibly not the case for some of their schools? I see some people who say that Tisch may not hold a lower SAT score against you since talent is also very important. Is that 2000 area basically just a big average for ALL test scores submitted for any school, which in that case, Tisch may not expect a score quite that high, but Stern might expect one even higher?

Yes, to your last statement. Except that the official averages reported adhere maybe the closest to CAS? You have been doing your reading here (I gather this is where you got your info about varying SAT scores accepted at the different schools).

Repeatedly, we have heard people report that “lower” SAT scores at Tisch can be acceptable if the applicant has a strong creative portfolio. And it appears, IN GENERAL, Stern Admissions likes the high statistics applicant (high GPA, high standardized scores - like SAT scores over 2100 or even 2200 as a general rule of thumb). Keep in mind, though, there have been people accepted at Stern with lower stats for whatever reason that we do not know clearly. So we are speaking generally. Also, Tisch admitted students can also have high standardized scores and, of course, it is better for the Tisch applicant to have both high SAT scores and a fantastic creative portfolio.

Unfortunately, as stated here previously, NYU makes it difficult to know what average standardized scores are by school. No one has come up with an official version of this yet and I do not think it exists (at least for “public” view).
