Do the CSUs "talk" with each other when applying?

When you apply to multiple CSUs for the same major, do the CSUs “talk” to each other?

Do they tend to admit you to the CSU that is closet to where you live first if the major chosen is the same?

You get priority at the CSU in your local service area but they do not talk to each other about how many other CSU’s you have applied. My son applied to 6 CSU’s and got into 5 including his local CSU.

Here is a link to determine your local in-service area CSU if you are not sure:

no, they don’t. All CSUs make independent assessment of your qualifications. Generally, the competitive campuses wait until the application window closes then rank all applicants by eligibility index. They draw the cut-off line based on the number of seats available - ‘local’ applicants have a lower threshold for impacted campuses.

Thank you. I have made a decision. I am going with strictly CSUs. I must admit I am still unclear about a major … Mechanical Engineering or Molecular/Microbiology … If I could meld the two I would.
