Do the Harlem Shake! Chance me for Cooper Union and others

Hey guys!

I am wondering if I have a chance to any of these schools: Cooper Union, John Hopkins, University of Arizona, Arizona State University

JUNIOR -> Senior Class of 2014

My plan major is Chemical Engineering/Biomedical Engineering

I plan on doing Early decision for Cooper Union and regular for all the others (Since I’m pretty sure I’m on the low end for JHU ;p)

PSAT: 204 (Probably commended)
SAT: Taking them in March, but I’m averaging around 2100+ on every practice tests
SAT 2: Haven’t taken them, but taking Chem and Math 2. But I know that I can score 700+ on both tests
GPA: (uw) 3.89 (w) 4.37
Rank: 9 out of 360

Clubs: French Club, Green Club, Photography Club, Calculus Club, NHS, Academic Decathlon (Really just all around)

I take every advanced class I can. Currently I am enrolled in the two only AP classes offered to JUNIORS which are AP Calc AB and lang. Next year I signed up for AP Biology, Chemistry, Literature, Calculus BC.

I volunteer by math tutor, library, and teacher’s aide

I was selected for RYLA, a leadership conference upstate.

I am currently in selection for Girl State (which I’m pretty positive I’ll make it in)

This summer I am interning at University of Arizona for biomed.

Chance it YO! I’ll chance back if you leave a link :)

Arizona and Arizona State are fine, Hopkins is a reach, and you’ll need stellar scores for Cooper (high reach).

Like what kind of scores? 750+ for sat2? 2200+ SAT score?

Out of curiosity are you from long island? Long islanders are the only people I’ve ever heard use the term “upstate.” Either way both Arizona schools seem likely but cooper union is pretty much a toss up for everybody.

Those are good stats so I think Arizona and arizona state are good. Cooper Union is like the most selective school in the country though no? Still your stats are solid so I would say everything is a possibility

chance me back!? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1464316-international-senior-not-so-knowledgeable-guidance-counselor-chance-me-please.html

Nope. From Arizona! But I was raised in the NYC/Long Island Metro Area :P

How can I increase my chances to cooper!?!? I know the arizona schools are pretty much a guarantee acceptance (unless I do something completely ■■■■■■■■).

For Cooper you need near-perfect (if not perfect) test scores in math, chemistry, and physics (they require SAT2s but do well on SAT composite as well), and you need to do well when they send the essay questions. Show great proficiency in calculus as well. It’s a highly selective engineering program, and whereas in the other schools at Cooper your creativity gets you in, with engineering you need the scores to back up your app. I would say 750 minimum for the SAT2s, but more comfortable would be in the 770-790 range.

So does my sat need to be higher?

Buhhlooooop

I made RYLA also. Im going to the camp in CA in march. Congrats!

For your SAT I would aim for a 2200+ composite and a 750+ math score
