I heard that the waitlist is mainly to fill diversity gaps. Does some international applicants fill these diversity gaps. Also for example if a school had 1 admit from brazil and that admit rejected, would it be the same for them if they just accepted someone from the waitlist who lives in a country which they had not yet accepted from. Or would they accept from the waitlist someone in brazil. If that makes sense.
Do they accept internationals from the wait-list? Yes. Will they accept a Brazilian simply because they’re Brazilian? No. If a Chilean fills their gender/EC needs, they’ll pass on the Brazilian.
People overestimate the geographic diversity need, especially for the wait-list. The primary consideration will be male/female, day/boarding, and (for some schools) full pay

Wait lists are not to fill “diversity gaps”, they are to fill gaps in types of students. It is way more common that the gap will be boarding vs day (e.g. they need two more day boy students) vs a particular country.
