Do universities care how devoted you are to education?

I’ll be starting at a local CC in the spring. Quite frankly, my high school record (at least for the first two years) was embarrassing. My sights are set rather high, but I know that I at least have the potential to thrive at a high caliber institution. However, I’m doubtful about how much universities will care about me. I mean, I was in the CC’s Dual Enrollment program during senior year and pulled a 4.00 and do well on standardized tests and whatnot. Also, I’m going to be starting that PTK honor society and really want to get involved with that. Any insight? I have many doubts about this entire process (it seems rather grim to me).
