We are trying to make a final choice for where my daughter should attend High School. She has done a lot of professional musical theatre in our city and wants to go to Michigan or NYU at this point for Musical Theatre. The Private, college prep HS we are close to choosing doesn’t have a Thespians Troupe-So, she couldn’t attend state Acting competitions etc…would this hurt her chances when she is applying to Universities?

There’s a lot of good info on this topic in the thread: Looking For Input From College Reps

I do not feel as though I am going on limb here - no, your chances are not compromised by failing to participate in thespian competitions, However, having experience in MT is good - but you seem to have that covered already. Your admission will overwhelmingly be determined by your college audition (assuming your have academically qualified at schools that require an academic admission).

In my coaching and high school classroom teaching experience, it won’t hurt at all, as many high schools (both public and private) don’t have Thespian troupes.
