I’m applying to the BFA program as a transfer student from UC Berkeley (by the way what are my chances?). I found 3 monologues that I like online from movies, but does it have to be from a play? The website doesn’t say so, but someone else told me. Here’s the site:

I would recommend doing one from a play. That’s just kind of a rule of theatrical auditions, that you don’t do monologues from movies.

really? wow. thank you. where can i find them? i looked online and found one site that was decent. but i want something that’s similar to a film monologue : [

Katie,
Do you have an acting coach? Did you graduate from a performing arts high school before entering Cal? If so, it might be a good idea to consult with your coach/teachers about a monologue that would showcase your talent.

It is important to follow the directions on the website for all of your auditions. Theater is highly competitive. I suggest you have a range of schools on your list, including those which do not require an audition.
