Do used car sales go up or down in August in a College town?

Most people argue that summer is the time to buy a car in a college town. I’d argue the exact opposite.

Kids who come to college in august typically already have cars. The town in question’s students going out of state will buy cars…in the summer.

So what exactly happens? Easier to buy cars in the summer or August/September?

It depends on if people in that town even use cars. Here in Madison there’s probably no change in sales, because very, very few people have cars. You really don’t need one here, everywhere is mostly walkable and there’s no parking. Also in some places I have heard that freshmen aren’t allowed to have cars.

How about in a smaller college town where everybody drives?
