DO vs MD

<p>Hi,
I don’t know if I’m posting this in the right place but, I’m interested
in knowing the difference between the DO and MD degrees.
I know what it says in the books, and how each takes a different approach to healing, I’d be interested in what the feeling is in the med community?</p>

<p>Are DO’s considered below MD’s by thier MD peers?
Are DO program’s applicants considered differently for admission?

<p>Usually it is a little easier to get acceptance into a DO school than regular medical school. DO–a doctor of osteopathic medicine deals with a more holistic approach to medicine, while a MD may be more specialized. Don’t get me wrong, you can find DOs in surgical fields, pediatric fields…you name it. I wouldn’t know if DOs are considered “inferior” to MDs, because I’m only a senior in high school. But they are certainly not limited to one kind of medical pathway. Hope this helps.</p>
