I’m thinking of applying to HMC for bio/chem next year…
The problem is, I read on the site that a year of high school physics is needed.
Because I moved in 9th grade and my schedule got a bit messed up, I have only taken a trimester of introductory physics in 9th grade.
I DID do a summer program (CTY fast paced high school physics) which would hypothetically grant me credit for taking a year long course, but our school does not offer credits based on summer programs.
If I did take physics my senior year, it would mean I would have to juggle a packed schedule (in other words, no free periods) along with the full IB diploma (4 higher levels, which are way harder than AP). Oh, and I suck at physics, which would probably destroy my GPA.

So do any of you know if it’s absolutely REQUIRED for me to take physics? Or do you think if I have the summer program, they will count it and let me apply?

They will almost definitely count your CTY course. I was admitted this year, and they counted the Honors Physics course that I took during the summer at the Wisconsin Center for Academically Talented Youth’s Accelerated Learning Program. I also applied for bio/chem and am an IB student.

Your CTY credit may apply, whether or not your high school granted you credit for it. Another option would be to take a summer physics course at your local community college. For your specific case, you might want to get in touch with the HMC regional admissions coordinator for your region.
You may not need to take PHY to get in. But once there,
you will be taking PHY (its reqd) and everyone else
will have be better prepared for sure.
