Do you actually need to read the textbook? (specifically APUSH)

Or can you rely on course-notes.org/AMSCO?

I’m talking in terms of the class. Course Notes seems to offer a pretty good outline of The Brief American Pageant. Are these good enough to study for tests/answer focus questions? The American Pageant isn’t the worst, but I certainly do not enjoy reading 30 pages of overly-wordy text per night.

This also applies to AP Bio, but I don’t find that textbook as bad as APUSH’s.

Are you planning on attending an American university?

See, most college level courses require the student to not only read the text, but also the supplemental books as well as the lecture notes. An AP class isn’t even close to how a student studies for exams in college.

In other words, don’t try to cruise through the AP class by skipping the text reading. Didn’t you have to do the summer assignment?

If you don’t want to read ‘‘30 pages of overly-wordy text per night,’’ why did you decide to take APUSH?

To answer your question, I found that Course Notes didn’t give me all the information needed for my APUSH tests/quizes. While it is a supplement and can let you better understand what you are reading, there were questions in my tests that it didn’t cover. The American Pageant isn’t that bad of book, I actually find it quite interesting. There are definitely worst textbooks.

Course notes can be a good review, but I thought that it lacked the context in which events occurred in. Read the textbook to get a general sense of the material and review using Amsco and other materials. That worked for me and it may work for you.

More to the point, why does OP want to go to college? This is like buying a combo meal at McDonalds and asking if you have to eat the fries.

^LOL

Also, I used the notes on that website to complement one of the chapters in my APUSH textbook when I was studying, and found a lot of errors. So it’s not very reliable…
