So last night, I went to a hockey game with some friends and the topic of how I liked my previous institution came up. I described the difference in social scenes, academics, and what a LAC is like versus a big state flagship and some of my friends commented that they’d never thought about how their lives would have been different had they gone to another school.

Since this is a forum devoted to college admissions, I was wondering if any current college students ever ask what if they’d gone to a different institution.

Yep. My first choice was CU-Boulder, but it didn’t make any sense to go there financially so I’m at Ohio State instead. Sometimes I wish I lived in Colorado, but I like my school and I’ll be able to move wherever I want once I graduate.

Didn’t make sense financially for undergrad. I’m going to apply there for graduate school.

I would probably be studying a lot more if I was at UCLA instead of my current university, but I’d probably be more social since I know so many who go there. I’d probably be in a different major as well. I don’t regret coming to my current school, though. I’m already on loans and have free tuition for my school and it’s just barely enough to cover me at my current university (living cost is outrageous). Most of the people I know who went there were pretty poor and so they didn’t end up paying that much.
