Do you ever meet with counselors?

Since transferring to UCLA last Fall, I have not met with a counselor. I look at my DPR and it seems really self-explanatory…just take the classes for your major and get 180 units. simple enough right? Am I missing out from anything by not meeting with a counselor?

Thank you!

I never met with a counselor during my time at UCLA.

The DPR is pretty self explanatory. Just make sure you have fulfilled every requirement on there for your major. Also make sure you have enough units in upper-div courses in order to graduate.

I’m graduating in 2 weeks and have never met with my counselor. I’ve emailed them a few times to clear things up, but never met in person.

Interesting. Thanks a ton for your input guys

resources are there for you to take advantage of, or not. You can do as you say, get the 180 units and the diploma. But advisers in your department, the career center, the profs you are taking classes from, etc. can be valuable in helping you reach your longer term goals after graduation. Talking your plans over with the appropriate people can be helpful because they’ve seen people do it before and can give you advice on doing things that may not have ocurred to you.
