Do you feel that this is a sufficient essay?

SO, I shall be applying to SI Newhouse School of Public Communications to major in Broadcast/Digital Journalism. Do you feel that this essay is sufficient enough to get me in? Thoughts? Comments? CONCERNS?

Who or what influenced you to apply to Syracuse University?

Throughout my life, I have always been interested in the field of broadcast/digital journalism; it has just always resonated with me. From early viewings of CNN, 60 Minutes, and Larry King, I was immediately taken by the power these men/women in front of a camera possessed, bringing sheer gravitas to the topics they covered. In order to be like the anchors I so admired, I knew that I would have to attend a school that supplied me with the essential tools to achieve greatness. From NYU to Drexel, I toured what seemed like dozens of universities; then I found Syracuse.

In Syracuse, I found a school that possessed all the qualities I needed in a university and more. Walking upon the campus, I was taken by its beauty and simple layout. I was able to find my way to certain buildings with ease, admiring the lovely architecture in the process.

But what truly took me at Syracuse was the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. I have always been a “media guy”, having a keen interest on how the media affects the population as a whole. In Newhouse, I found a facility that provides all the necessary equipment to feed my love of media, whether that be through advanced computers or cameras (being entirely familiar with both due to being an amateur filmmaker). Touring Newhouse really excited me, for I did not just see a state-of-the-art building with computers and green screens; I saw my future.

In Syracuse University, I found a school built upon academic integrity and spirit. Walking through the quad, I witnessed just how passionate the student body is when it comes to academics and athletics, donning the color orange with great pride. The students did not seem to me like pupils segregated by cliques or social rank (as I observed on other college tours), they seemed like the most down-to-earth people with nothing but school spirit and integrity; the kind of students that I would love to study with.

At Syracuse, I truly found the college for me, ending months upon months of searching.I saw the work I would have to put in, the effort I would have to exert in order to truly become successful. But I decided something; I am ready to put in the effort, I am ready to give Syracuse my all in academics and community activities. On the campus of Syracuse University, I saw what my academic future could be and how very promising it seems.
