I am going to asu, but I’m just wondering in general…

I was looking up scholarships and it seems like there’s more scholarships for people who have their majors set and stone :/

Is this true?

I was looking up scholarships and it seems like there’s more scholarships for people who have their majors set and stone :/

Is this true?

For some schools, yes because some scholarships are offered to undergraduates by specific programs within the school.

But are those scholarships for upper classmen who declare themselves in that major? Are they even open to ANY incoming freshmen? Perhaps not. Check and see.

Yes.

Entering freshmen in mechanical engineering at Berkeley can apply to this scholarship:
[Mechanical Engineering at UC Berkeley](http://www.me.berkeley.edu/StudentAffairs/ProspectiveStudents/Undergraduate/Drake.html)

Entering freshmen in any engineering major at Alabama get larger automatic scholarships for the same stats compared to those in other majors:
[Scholarships - Undergraduate Students - The College of Engineering - The University of Alabama](Scholarships – College of Engineering | The University of Alabama)

It is the same with UT. Engineering and business honors program admittees at Texas tend to get some money if not full tuition waivers. However, other departments don’t seem to have money to give out irrespective how great the admitted candidates are.
