Do you guys think I have what it takes?

intended major: biology
Weighted GPA (it sucks): 3.8 (4.5 scale) I don’t know what my class rank is but I imagine it’s horrible
Always took the hardest classwork all honors, 3 APs - freshman and sophomore year I pretty much got only Bs this past year I got straight As, MAJOR MAJOR GRADE UPSWING

ACT: 32 (I’m retaking it)
APs: Chem-5 US-4 World-4
This coming year I’m taking 5 APs (and gym and band) Stats, Calc, lit, bio, gov’t
I’m retaking the SAT bc I did not get a good score last time

ECs:
-Eagle Scout, three 2 week backpacking trips, lots of leadership positions my eagle scout project was pretty big over 150 hrs of work
-3 year member and current pres of Young Democrats (we work on campaigns, petition things at school, etc)
-4 yr drumline/band member
-will have 4 yrs varsity boys swimming, 2 yrs JV water polo, and will have 2 yrs varsity water polo (was elected captain)
-been involved in two play productions at my school and two at another schools theatre (it was an all girls school so they needed guys)
-This summer volunteering full time (30 hrs/week) for a local charity renovation organization (I work in the office most of the time but help with renovations as well)
-Worked on 3 Habitat for Humanity projects in neighboring states the past three years
-Worked at an organization where I taught underpriviledged kids how to swim (3 hrs/week)
-Winter job as a lifeguard for a local community college (15hrs/week)

and looking at my school’s naviance account it looks like I may be ok getting it. there are people from my school that got in with lower ACT and slightly lower GPA

What the heck is a 4.5 scale? What’s your unweighted GPA?

I think you’re fine. Don’t stress so much.

Ok I’m trying not to but Michigan’s my second choice so I really really want to get in because I’m not gonna make it in my first.

I can imagine my unweighted is quite horrific. 4.5 counts as an AP, 4.3 as an honors, 4.0 as regular, I know it’s annoying. BUT I had a major change my junior year :)

I agreed with walkman24. Good luck.

Well I can’t speak to recent admissions, but the unweighted UM gpa didn’t look at frosh year when I applied. Maybe it’s changed, I don’t know, but if it hasn’t that’ll certainly help you.

You should get in. I mean didn’t we just accept like 60% for the '14 class? Standards just seem to keep going down each year (no offense to incoming frosh)
