Do you have a favorite travel outfit?

Wondering what you normally wear when you travel. I’m planning an overseas trip for August and I never seem to travel comfortably. This particular flight will be an overnight flight and quite l o n g. Thanks for your travel tips!

Blue jeans with a little stretch. Plain t-shirt with short or long sleeves depending on the time of year. Shoes that are easy to get on and off (no buckles, no laces).

My latest favorite travel outfit is jeggings with a sleeveless technical gear tank top, long, long-sleeved lightweight t-shirt, and vest with zippers so I can stash things as I take them out of my carry-on. I also keep a hoodie in my carry on as well as my heavy jacket so they can double as blankets or pillows, as the mood suits. This has been the most comfy outfit I’ve worn for my flights of 10 hours or even 5-6 hours.

For a very long trip…black yoga pants, a loose shirt with no buttons, and sandals if weather permitting.

My go-to travel outfit for flights is leggings and a oversized shirt paired with slip-ons. Comfortable and flexible!

As for what I wear it depends on the area. If it’s a tropical climate, I stick to maxi dresses or shorts with loose flowy tops. If it’s a cooler climate, jeans or leggings and loose tops.

I try to keep the clothes non constricting.

I will not get on an airplane without one of those infinity or long lightweight scarves. It allows me to alter my temperature comfort level without much effort. My friend swears by knit maxi skirts ,knee highs to slip on and a thin sweater -also makes it convenient to adapt to temp.

Have a fun trip!

Dark green or black jeans with stretch, grey and black striped long sleeved T, and a longer cardigan. Silk long scarf. A black wind and rain resistant polarfleece is my overseas travel jacket. It is cozy as an alternate blanket or rolled as a pillow. Slip on sandals or flats, and thin ankle socks. I may not be the most fashionable on the plane, but I am comfortable.

I like to do layers when flying long distance. In the winter, cashmere sweater/pants with a shawl. In the summer, comfortable top with a pair of stretchy knit pants (but not sweats) and a cardigan. I wear little bit bigger flats because my feet tend to swell on flights, and no shoe lace or buckle for ease of taking on off. I will also pack a pair of socks to wear on flights so I could take my shoes off.

I try to wear natural fibers (such as cotton), just in case of fire. I don’t really worry about it but I figure it is an easy precaution. Slip on shoes and zip up sweatshirt, scarf and comfy jeans. Nothing tight or in any way irritating. Sports bra- no underwire.

I swear by this for long flights:
http://www.amazon.com/Lewis-N-Clark-Adjustable-Pillow/dp/B000SKXROI/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1404265766&sr=8-4&keywords=eagle+creek+travel+pillow</a></p>

It’s inflatable, so it folds up nicely to store in your carry-on. I’ve tried the ones filled with rice or whatever, but they’re so heavy, take up a lot of room in your carry-on, and you can’t adjust the size with air like this one. And they don’t support your neck as well as this one - when you lay your head to one side, the filling just moves around. You can control that with the air-filled ones. I just loaned ours to a friend for a long flight and she was very grateful to have it.

Even though slip-on shoes are nice for going through security, I now wear sneakers when I fly. I won’t wear sandals – I don’t want to walk through the scanner in bare feet. If I’m connecting, and my first flight is late and I have to run, I want to be wearing the right shoes. Sneakers also tend to be my heaviest shoes, so I’d rather wear them than carry them. I’m willing to sacrifice the couple of minutes it takes to tie laces at security.

I’ve had several long flights in the last year. I’ve worn leggings or stretchy cargo pants that have pockets for money/passport/phone (these: Athleta). Not jeans. If it’s really hot both where I’m leaving and where I’m going, I’ll wear an elastic-waist, flowy, below the knee skirt.

I also bring a scarf, all times of year – even in the summer, because sometimes the planes are over-airconditioned. And layers, because other times the planes get really hot. Even in summer, I bring a cardigan or light hoodie onto the plane. And I wear dark colors.

I started wearing compression knee socks on trips over a few hours. What a huge difference in how I feel at the other end. The regular flight outfit consists of a pair of stretchy jeans or yoga pants, shelf bra cami and a darker type cotton T-shirt with and a zip up lighter type jacket. I always bring a sarong which gets used as a scarf or blanket. My standard shoes are a pair of black paddock boots by Ariat. They are comfy and easy to take on and off. Best thing about the shoes is I can wear them for days and days …in case the luggage takes a detour.

I recently added a this very lightweight down jacket. Ihttp://www.uniqlo.com/us/product/women-ultra-light-down-jacket-133103.html?gclid=CjgKEAjwuMmdBRDljdfi2_qQpxkSJADDCRwsd2E2M0jb6dYQCpFVnCq_41pwTUcx6GIq291dQU0T0fD_BwE#01t fits into a small pouch and can be layered under or over the other jacket. Amazingly warm and only 4 oz.

Yes, these down jackets do pack nice and small and are warm. They do run small, so it’s best to try for size before buying. My mom wore my sisIL’s jacket, which helped keep her toasty, with the other layers.

You’re getting great advice on the clothes - I wear something similar, comfortable pants, a couple of layers with a long cardigan, scarf sometimes, slip on shoes with socks (I have a great pair of comfortable Merrills with a zipper that look a little nicer than tennis shoes)…I’d only add that eyeshades and earplugs are essentials for me when I fly overnight, so I suggest slipping some into your carryon.

This is my typical domestic travel outfit:
Lululemon Wunder Under yoga capris
My favorite long tee with an Alaskan moose on the front (somewhat fitted)
Long cardigan, usually Eileen Fisher
Slip-on shoes (I carry footies to go through security)
My trusted tissue weight cashmere wrap from Nordie’s
My new (to me  ) wallet on chain worn cross-body

If I travel internationally, I would wear the softest, most comfortable jeans (Vince brand) or my denim jeggings that everyone thinks are jeans.

If I have a meeting to run to straight off the plane, then I wear something more business like that does not wrinkle, like a DVF silk jersey dress.

Anything w lycra in it

Oh yeah, and I avoid wearing nylon & other synthetics. Because if there’s a cabin fire, it won’t be pretty…

Depending on the time of year, yoga capris, jeans or a pair of comfy shorts, tshirt and a quarter zip fleece or lightweight dri-fit type shirt. Tennis shoes or Keens on my feet.

I always wear these black LL bean pants when I fly:

<a href=“Women's Perfect Fit Pants, Boot-Cut | Pants at L.L.Bean”>http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/47047?feat=622-CL1&page=perfect-fit-pants-boot-cut</a></p>

They’re incredibly comfortable but keep their shape so you don’t look too rumpled after a long flight. I pair them with a comfortable short sleeved t-shirt and bring a zip up lightweight jacket. I wear light Merrill slip-on clogs with socks. They are comfortable for quick walks through the airport but are easy to slip off on the plane.

If you take a large carry-on a long trip, it’s also nice to bring a smaller backpack or bag that fits under the seat in front of you so you can reach stuff easily during the flight.

Enjoy your trip!

I’m with Bunsen on the Lululemon WunderUnder long leggings or capris, depending on the season. I often wear one of my Nuu-Muu running dresses over it, and a Lulu Forme jacket or loose sweater over that. I ALWAYS freeze on planes, so I also have some sort of scarf or heavier wrap in my carry on tote. Ariat fat babies cowboy boots that are easy to slip on and off. Longer flights I use Zensah calf compression sleeves.
