I have a chemistry teacher that constantly strokes his own beard and paints his fingernails purple. Do you think he might be gay?

Since when has stroking your beard = gay?

I know an English teacher who’s gay… she supports our school’s gay alliance club… i would never have guessed though… but i’m oblivious. :p

What happens if your “gaydar” is wrong? What if you mistakenly assume the teacher is gay? It happens to me many times; one time, I remember, “I think he’s gay”, then the guy’s wife and kids visit our class, “Oops, I’m wrong.” Does that happen to you?

In middle school one of the female gym teachers was a lesbian - she wasnt allowed to be in the girls locker room.

In high school, my 11th grade math teacher was also a lesbian - saw her with her girlfriend several times.

There are some people that think this physics teacher at my school is also gay(he has the stereotypical voice), but i think he just got married so probably not.

We have an honors English teacher at my high school who is openly gay. His sexual preference has no impact on his teaching ability whatsoever.

who cares…
btw: just beacuse they are married doesnt mean they arent gay. many gays particcularly in older generations get married to a woman, have kids, etc. because that is what was expected of them

one of our newer teachers came out. i forget what he teaches, english or history…

Yeah, that’s exactly how it was at my junior-high.

The Romanian mindset is traditionally close-minded against homo/bi-sexuals. They candidly admit to being homophobic some of the people I’ve talked to. I can understand why teachers or students wouldn’t want to come out at our school. Though there is one sophomore who is a lesbian. But, it seems being a lesbian is more acceptable than being gay. Bah. Double standards. (Though this is one of those rare times when it somewhat works in the favor of the female…)

Just under half of my school’s Lit Department is gay. Example:

Student: I heard that movie was really homoerotic.
Teacher: Well… it didn’t do it for me.

Are they all men, Mesotired9? And just as Namaste said, it used to only be societally acceptable to be straight, so many homosexuals married, as many still do today…I believe there are at least two teachers at my school who follow this pattern…

i have 4 and they’ve all come out publicly

i think my gym teacher is, i’m not sure though.

I think I have an excellent gaydar. My 7th grade history teacher is a lesbian (in my opinion). I thought my 9th grade history teacher was gay, but in retrospect, I don’t think he is. My 10th grade Spanish teacher had gay tendencies, and my 10th grade history teacher is openly gay. My class met his husband. My 11th grade history teacher could be lesbian, and I’m fairly certain my 11th grade science teacher is a lesbian. My 11th grade history teacher and my English teacher this year both have gay tendencies. For some reason, I keep thinking that the latter was born a woman, but he has a wife and two kids (though they might be adopted).

Do you people live in areas with large gay populations?

The people in my town tend to be conservative.

Chicago, conservative? That’s a new one.

My English teacher spread rumors around that he was gay, (he majored in psychology so to him this was a giddy fun experiment), watched as all the homophobic kids were always afraid of him and laughed to his self.

He was straight the whole time, but asked a few students to spread more and more rumors of his homosexuality. I think he tricked everyone, and didn’t have to do any student/teacher connections that he probably didn’t want to. He was only 26-27 so he probably still thought high school kids as boring idiots.

Nope, I live in a suburb right outside of Chicago, but of course, i don’t have to be that specific in describing my location.

gian do you happen to live in northbrook or barrington?
