Do you know a really really amazing applicant who got rejected from HYPS?

Do you know someone who sounded like a 99% LOCK for HYPS, but ended up getting rejected?

What were their stats like?

Grazie.

I’m a Harvard interviewer, and I don’t believe I’ve ever met an applicant who I viewed as a 99% lock.

If you go to the individual HYPS fora, each of them have "results’ threads where accepted and rejected CC users post their decisions and a profile. You can see what they looked like.

And I concur with Hanna. The only “lock” I ever interviewed, indeed, was a lock! She had a Likely Letter already.

the “99% lock” varies on what you are

2400, 4 SAT II’s 800’s, Valedictorian, Intel Finalist, Just all around boss
Rejected: Harvard, Yale
Accepted: Stanford, Princeton

Since a “99% LOCK” at any of the HYPS schools would be something like a recruited star quarterback double-legacy URM with 2400 SATs, a 4.0 unweighted GPA from one of the top 10 HS in the country, Olympic world record holder in several events, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and Intel Science Talent Search first-place winner, whose parents had already donated $5 million and were ailing, with an estimated net worth of $500 million + . . . . No, I guess I’ve never met such a person.
