Do you know anyone who applied to a school as a joke?

This year in my school’s senior class a guy with a 2.7 GPA and a 1630/2400 SAT score applied to Harvard, Yale, and Princeton…and got rejected, of course.

Last year my friend applied to a super-duper safety school and had to write an essay which asked him to talk about himself or something…and he wrote that he never did his homework and always procrastinated until the last minute, and how “stupid” he was [he was not]…and he was rejected, too.

And i also know people who are like “Why not, what the hell, I’ll just apply to Princeton for the hell of it” and ended up getting in 0.o

Yeah- A friend of mine applied to Harvard as a joke and got rejected.
Haha, I mean, I’m all for practical jokes, they’re great and everything… but uh… thats one freaking expensive joke. no way am I whipping 50-80 bucks out for an application fee hahahahaha

i kind of applied to penn last year as a joke. 5 years ago, maybe i couldve gotten in. but my credentials wouldve NEVER gotten me into wharton… 2110/2400, 3.7 GPA, EC packed, and URM. my mom wrote the essay about why i wanted to go there because i insisted it was a waste of time to apply. my mom has a masters in computer science, and hasnt taken an english/writing class since her frehsman year of college, it was kind of funny to read.

and then my friend who had decent grades, nothing special though applied to uni of south carolina and beaufort. which said on their website that they accept anything over a 900/1600 on SAT and say a 2.5 GPA is preferable, but its okay if you did have either of those and you still could stand a chance. id say my friend had like a 3.3 and 1150/1600 on SAT. were from jersey and the school was something like 92% in state, “very new”, and he jsut applied for the heck of it to see how much money they would give him.
then me and all of my HS friends joked that we should all just apply there and the admissions office really wouldnt know what hit them to see 12 overall very intelligent and high achieving kids from jersey applying to a tiny non-competitive new state school in sc.
