Do you know anyone who was rejected from HYPSMC?

Was anyone you know who is top 5 in school rejected from these schools?
H = Harvard
Y = Yale
P = Princeton
S = Stanford
M = MIT
C = Caltech

Yes. In some cases, all 6. In the end, your high school class rank is just a number like your SAT scores, and becomes meaningless once at college.

then what will be the safe colleges except the 6?

sorry, I think I phrased my question incorrectly:

Anyone you know APPLIED to ALL of the 6 schools and got REJECTED from every single one of them?
I thought there is a high possibility for a competitive student for getting into at least one of the 6 six. It would really suck if the competitive student got all 6 rejection letters.

Yes again. All six rejections letters. And he was a very smart kid, with many accomplishments. It happens. And it’s not really very predictable either. Every applicant is different, it’s not like there’s a common scale to measure each one by. I have a friend who was accepted to Harvard and UPenn, and yet was rejected by Brown and Columbia.

There are no guarantees with those six schools. Just get your applications done to the best of your ability, and try not to think about it until December/April.

It’s your job to research safe colleges.

i think that happens almost every year. Maybe one, two in a good year, of the top 20 gets into one of those schools.

Yes,you are right.
Good luck to everyone.
