Do you know of colleges with easy access to white water rafting?

I know it’s an odd question, lol. Thanks.

Virginia Tech. WVU. Montana State. Pitt and CMU are not all that far from Ohiopyle.

Thank you @sevmom I only know of U of Richmond so I’m glad to hear about others.

Almost anywhere in Colorado and Utah. It will also depend on the time of the year. Pretty chilly to be rafting in Montana in the spring.

Boise State! Idaho has the most miles of river anywhere in the Lower 48. The Payette has 16 miles of continuous Class V whitewater! From campus, it’s maybe 1 hour to get to some of the best whitewater rafting in the world. If you’re willing to go further for more options, there’s also all the forks of the Salmon, although some of those will require additional permits due to their location in a designated wilderness area (Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness). If you want to take it chill, the Boise runs through campus and can be floated in the summer/fall in an inner tube.

Western Carolina University is close to rafting on the Nantahala. Other rivers are in the area also.

In California, Sacramento State, Stanislaus State, and UC Merced. They’re all near rivers that you can use for rafting in the Sierra.

Appalachian State University and UNC Asheville are not too far from whitewater. UNCC is very close to the US National Whitewater Center, a man-made river with a large community of kayakers and rafters.

University of Maine, though most rafting goes on during the summer.

Check out Colorado College and Arkansas River rafting.

The school’s outdoor education program includes a rafting track.

CC is a small, selective liberal arts college with a ~16% admission rate.
Its unusual one-course-at-a-time block plan provides long weekends (“block breaks”) every 4 weeks.
This creates free time to enjoy outdoor adventures in the Colorado Rockies.

@Chembiodad is right! The New River and the Cheet are popular destinations for river guides who aren’t getting enough excitement from the rivers where they work. They are very exciting!

you guys are the bomb.com, as the kids say:)

@gardenstategal, totally agree, and you have the Gauley nearby as well!

Rafting is very popular at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado and only minutes away from campus.
