Do you look better or worse than your ID photo?

I had to replace my passport a few years earlier than expiry date, but-- ack!-- my new passport photo looks like I waited the whole 10 years.

How does the real you compare to your passport or driver’s license photo?

I took my passport photo the day after getting my (5!) wisdom teeth removed, which I ended up having a terrible reaction to.
I look like a chipmunk who got socked in the mouth. (So, hopefully, better?)

My license doesn’t really look like me for whatever reason. I look like I have bright blonde hair and my eyes look green (I have brown- now red- hair and blue eyes). I think I look better as the blonde…

My present driver’s license photo is just meh…

But my previous drivers license photo was awesome. I looked so gorgeously great in the photo that I actually got into a dispute w a sales clerk when I tried to write a check. He insisted the picture didn’t look like me.

I am either extremely un-photogenic or seriously delusional.

last time I renewed my driver’s license they let me keep my old photo on the new ID - so I look young!

DH, who is very photogenic, just got a terrible DL photo. For some reason his eyes are open very wide, which makes him look a little crazy. I have known DH for 35 years and I have never seen him make that particular expression. And there was a weird shadow behind his shirt collar that blends in with his hair and makes him look like he has a mullet.

The picture is not flattering, lol.

My state doesn’t require us to re-take pictures any more. I think it kind of defeats the purpose of having a picture ID.
I have good days and bad days.

I had to renew my passport early in the year - OUCH! I was told the new rules are that you can’t smile, so I look disgusted as well as significantly older than the last photo. That one was quite nice, never embarrassed to present it. I thought the new one doesn’t look like me at all - but just last month I had to get visa photos taken. Unfortunately, the January passport photo and the August visa photos look like they were taken at the same time. I’d say that “the truth hurts”, but I think I will blame camera angle that catches all the wrinkles instead.

I don’t care what everybody else says, I look awesome. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

To quote the late, great Erma Bombeck “When you start to look like your passport photo it is time to go home”.

I take advantage of renewing my license online. Downside–it uses a photo from at least 15 years ago–think days of the permed bangs :frowning:

I take solace in the fact cops don’t look at the pic too well–mostly they just scan the barcode on the back. Before you ask, I know this because my kids are officers, not because I get stopped all the time

For better or worse, I thhink I resemble my photo on most of my IDs. Many are grainy and poor quality, but they still look like me (not at my finest). I agree that generally there isn’t a ton of scrutiny comparing any photo with the person, but it’s nice when there is some resemblance.

Our DMV lets you re-take the photo as many times as you want, so all our photos look great. At least we think they do!

There must be a reason the security person always looks back and forth between me and my id several times…

Funny how people will smile for their driver’s license photo, but when you get pulled over by a cop and are asked for your license…you’re not smiling!

Unfortunately, my photos look all too much like me. I never learned to smile on command so it makes me look like an ax murderer when I try. I am jealous of people who can do it so effortlessly.

My driver’s license and passport photos are fine. Looks like me/doesn’t look worse than I normally do. I’m not embarrassed by the photos.

When S got his first driver’s license, he was in a theatrical production in HS where he had to grow out his hair (8 months since a hair cut) AND he had to dye it a different color (brown). He was also the skinniest he’s ever been at his height. So over the years after he put on 30 lbs, and reverted to his very blond, very short hair, the photo looked NOTHING like him. He used his passport photo when traveling. We moved last year and he was very happy to get a new driver’s license in our new state.

My passport pic and driver’s license pic are both pretty good.

I get my drivers license renewed at AAA, and they will just keep taking pics over and over until you get something you like!

A friend took my passport pics…and I had about 50 from which to choose.

My driver’s license looks exactly the same as I look now. Same as any ID I’ve ever had since the age of around 17 (though I’m only 24).

I’ve even gotten comments about how weird it is that I look exactly the same in ID pictures from several years ago as I do now.

Wow, Viadenschlutte, staying the same at your age is unusual?

My son had very long hair a year or 2 in college, then a short cut for many years. More recently, grew it a little longer and added some facial hair. Pictures from 2 years ago don’t resemble him.

She, have some fun and grow or cut your hair, try a beard, a mustache, have fun
