I’m in Algebra II and we have a chapter of stats at the end of the year in May. I would like to take AP Statistics (either class or self-study) next year, so I was wondering if I should take AP Economics (Both Macro and Micro) this year or next year.

You do not need statistics for AP Econ. In fact, I believe the only exam you need statistics knowledge for (besides AP Stats) is AP Psychology, and even that is a very, very basic understanding that should be covered in any class / textbook / prepbook.

No- AP Economics can be taken successfullywithout AP Statistics.

I agree. Just basic math skills

Statistics certainly wouldn’t hurt you in Econ, but it’s not required.

You don’t need actual stats material. On the other hand, learning to think about things from a statistical mindset can be very helpful in econ.
