When applying or can you self report and submit official transcripts if you are accepting? My daughter is looking to apply early action in the fall to Albany, Binghamton, Stonybrook, New Paltz, and maybe Buffalo.
My daughter needed to submit all transcripts for all college courses when she applied, including dual enrollment. Check with your colleges to see what they require.
Are the classes on HS transcript?
Are you applying using Common App?
That matters, because there is no place to enter classes from Community College separate on the Common App. So if DE classes are not part of HS transcript, you can’t enter them. So the only way colleges know what you took and the grades is by getting them an official transcript. It will cost you about $5.20 each.
She homeschools and those classes will be on her transcript. Unfortunately for transcript reasons she has attended four colleges/universities, and two are flagship universities that are $12 and $15 each. She plans on chasing merit so she is applying to more colleges than she probably should be so it will add up.
Not sure why Common app nixed the college grade section. At least this this current cycle there is only place to put down the colleges attended and that’s it. It does get expensive if you attended several schools and are going to apply to multiple Unis.
But does SUNY have its own application?
We’re in CA, for us, the UC and CSU systems do not use the common app, and all grades are entered (self reported) directly.
SUNY has their own application but I don’t know what’s on it.
You can always use your own name and email to create an account to see. I tried that last night and didn’t see a section to self enter college grades…
@sybbie719 Can you answer OP’s questions about sending in multiple DE transcripts to SUNYs when applying as a homeschooler?
HI,
Here is the link to the SUNY application worksheet. If student is taking college now/dual enrollment, they should chek off the box.
https://www.suny.edu/media/suny/content-assets/documents/application-forms/suny_app_worksheet.pdf
Even if they self report, they must still submit transcript. Since the SUNY portal currently does not let you upload multiple documents, OP’s D should gather all of her transcripts for college courses, give them to the GC so that they and make one PDF with her high school transcript along with the college transcripts
Since the student is homeschooled, I assume it would be the parent combining and sending the transcripts?
Hi,
I just saw that. As a home school student, student may have to submit scores for admissions and scholarship consideration (albany definitely).
Puchase covers homeschool student application process really well. Op please read and probably use this as a guide

SUNY offered a free application period last October so you may want to keep an eye out for a similar announcement in the upcoming application season.

So can it be unofficial transcripts when applying and then official if accepting?
yes, make sure you submit all of your other documents since you are looking for merit
