Sometimes, I’ll stop and think about everything that’s happened up to this point and just start crying because I can’t believe that everything that I’ve done has culminated into this.

It just seems so unreal. Everything. My life. The fact that I got in. The fact that I can be a part of this magical world that is the Stanford undergraduate experience. There’s just so much that I love about this school…I knew that falling in love would be dangerous, but now that the dream is real, it doesn’t matter.

I’ve seen and heard the most wonderful stories, but I never really thought that could be me someday.

I feel like my life is beginning for the first time. So many opportunities…the world is our oyster.
These next few years are going to be the best years of my life and I can hardly wait.

To 1DSoccerGurl: Your humility and joy are at the very core of why Stanford has welcomed you. The fact that you are so deeply capable of appreciating the opportunity before you will guarantee a successful, rewarding and wonderful undergraduate experience. Congratulations, truly.

To SoCalDad2: Not sure why you felt the need to post such a glum comment. If you’re trying to rain on OP’s parade, shame on you. If you’re trying to reduce Stanford’s status in the hearts and minds of the CC community, good luck with that.

@SoCalDad is Stanford going to be as magical and life-altering as the OP thinks? Probably not. Realistically, theres going to be a lot of work and yes it is just more school. But maybe because you’re a parent and not a student getting ready for college, you don’t understand how magical it all seems in the future. This is the time to be excited, its going to be a new experience and Stanford is a great place to be for so many reasons. Just let the excitement be, its probably going to vanish after the first mid-term :P

nice link laf1980. I like that kid’s sentiments about doing good. I have seen Stanford tracking the non-profits their students have started the same way they boast about the for profit businesses. I hope more colleges are doing that kind of tracking.

OP, your excitement is wonderful to see. It’s a breath of fresh air on forums like these, and I hope it follows you throughout your career at Stanford. I truly believe there’s no other place in the world quite like Stanford, so enjoy every moment, because it goes by far too quickly.

And if you ever do have difficulty believing you got in, please, never doubt yourself. I’m sure you’ll hear a lot about this during NSO and self-doubt (i.e. wondering if you were the “admissions mistake”) can be a big part of freshman year. You (along with the rest of your future classmates) were all admitted for a reason and you should be proud. Take advantage of all Stanford has to offer and enjoy yourself. :)
