I never have, but recently I’ve been wanting one. What kind do you have and color? I’ve been enjoying colored purses for awhile, I change each season. I’m not one to change my purse within a season. I don’t enjoy carrying neutral colored purses unless it’s has a lot of interest on it. Just yammering now.
I have a red dolce & gabanna. I love it, it has a really interesting closure and is open in the middle. It can be held by hand or with a strap. I never put it on the floor! I have lots of kate spade type stuff, not sure if that’s what you’re talking about.
Red Gucci Tote - Love the splash of color.
I have a PinP (purse-in-purse) system going on: a WOC (in black caviar) that I carry inside a Kate Spade tote (in cats and cream). It works great. If I need to run out of the office to grab lunch or something, I don’t have to drag my big tote with me.
I wear my bags to shreds. When a bag falls apart, only then I buy a new one. The stupid WOC is already vintage - lol! - and is still holding up.
I like the cat purse!
I want to get this D&G “Family” bag!! ![]()
But I would never spend that much on a bag. ![]()
If you wanna go designer without breaking the bank, go Kate Spade.
Most of my bags are coach or kate spade, not a bazillion dollars, but nice.
I think OP does not need our advice what will or what will not break the bank.
she just wants to chat.
Even though I only carry one purse until it falls apart, I love to window shop purses. And I can tell a real designer purse from a fake (for a couple of brands).
Great suggestion by @CaliCash! They are a good designer entry bag and extremely durable. I am admittedly hard on my totes, but KS has held up.
I mostly have coach bags, but have a nice dressy soft leather bag a friend brought me back from Florence. It is NOT designer but my favorite since it reminds me of her. I brought back a bag from Taiwan I was going to keep but ended up giving it to D. She loves it as its small and very cute with a tiny elephant. It is mostly blue but unique because it was not bought in the US.
I have lots of real and fake designer bags I inherited and they most sit languishing in a plastic storage bin.

I like to window shop, too.
And am a bit obsessed with handbags.
Adding: Today I carried a plastic museum tote, with a famous painting stamped on it - in tribute to Koons/Louis Vuitton. I like my museum tote better, i think.
I don’t spend a fortune on bags and I keep them for a long time. I’ve been carrying the same Rebecca Minkoff black satchel for almost two years. About $200 iirc.
And I just bought this clutch.

I will probably buy a new everyday bag next fall.
I do want to chat…about designer bags and what color you choose for the price. Yellow is more spring/summer, red any season. Since I’ve never owned one does it seem foolish to spend money for just one season?
No
Be happy with your bag. We could all just carry our canvas food co-op bags if we wanted to be sensible.
I mix designer and non-designer freely among my handbags and briefcases. I have mostly switched to SMALL nylon bags to minimize the risk of shoulder injury such as frozen shoulder and rotator cuff injuries. I do use my nicer bags when I’m going to fancier places.
If I used one purse per season, I’d be sure I loved it. Then I’d deliberately accumulate a year round assortment that made me very happy, while being highly functional and good quality.
I am indifferent to mega-designer names and try to avoid prominent, recognizable logos. I do swap out purses by function and outfit, so may carry two in a day. I think they add a lot to my wardrobe and will invest in them, to a point. Everyone’s point will vary. I like to find smaller designers, especially when I travel. I am super picky due to the longevity of current ones, and while some people ask me about my bag, it is never because they can tell who designed it.
Current colors: 3 different blues, black, white, fuchsia, burgundy, orange and light and dark gray. I enjoy bags for their functionality and ability to amp up my generally casual wardrobe.
I did buy a dressy black evening bag from a local designer. It is partially made from an ancient kimono and somewhat sparkly as well. It’s a one-of-a-kind. I have a teal leather briefcase I bought at a trade show for $40–very cheerful and easier to spot than black.
I have a bog-standard Marc Jacobs, several Longchamp (1 is a tote, the others are handbags), Coach from their made in America days, a few other handbags bought in Paris, and miscellaneous lesser bags.
I try to switch off, especially in spring and summer when I wear actual colors.
One of my regrets is buying a brown leather Longchamp bag instead of one in orange. I was trying to be practical. I’d be able to use the orange 2-3 seasons a year.
A very specific trendy style or color I’d spend less on, knowing that it would end up in the back of my closet after a season. that said, sometimes a funky color brings a smile to my face and so the expense is worth it.
Kate Spade isn’t on my list of wants/needs. For some reason they annoy me (as much as inanimate objects can annoy a person$.
I have a black Coach bag from around 1974. I use a purple Longchamps tote for every day.
If I had all the money in the world, I’d buy this tote from Tod’s: http://store.tods.com/Tods/US/Tod%27s-Medium-Gipsy-Bag/p/XBWAMWAI300RIAS012
And I’d buy this small bag from Chanel: http://www.chanel.com/en_US/fashion/products/handbags/g/s.classic-handbag-crumpled-calfskin.17S.A01112Y2592894305.sto.ico.html
