It’s about three miles down the road. I have nothing else to do, so I walk to the library every day. They are going to hire me to shelve books next week. I might have enough money for an apartment now!

^woohoo! congrats on the job (put in a good word for me so i wont have to live in the dog house anymore)

congrats to the OP, sorry to hijack your thread with wonderful midnight humor that you do not find amusing

You’re lucky, My parents threw me out because I didn’t get all A+'s.

I sure will!

Actually they said if I worked there they would provide me with a meal and a bed so I can sleep in the library. They also have a shower, so that will be my first shower in months! Yes!!

Hahaha. 10 char

**** off Red963.

Ok sorry for saying that Red963. I wanted this to be a meaningful thread and 98% of the posts are irrelevant. If you could please stop monkeying around…

No! you cant take a shower, how will i recognize you at the dump if you don’t have all of those wonderful little flies following you:(

I totally forgot about that. I’ll wait until next week then. Sound good?

100% of these posts are irrelevant. You think somebody is going to take you seriously when this is your first thread?

Yay! but i guess if you’re driving off people then its a good idea to take a quick bath.
I’ll meet up with you at your choice of dump and I’ll be the one with the pet rat

Kiddos, will you please take this thread to the High School life forum? It adds nothing to our intellectual, mature discussion of bottom freezers and cosmetic products that make us young :D

Sounds good. Can’t wait!!

okay, just a quickk heads up, if anyone wanted to post if they rewarded their kids, then they would have, regardless of irrelevant posts.
Seeing as it is very late, not many people are going to respond to this thread with “relevant” responses
Perhaps they will in the morning

@bunsenburner-sure thing! runs off with red963

Just curious - what were your fantastic scores ■■■■■■■■ orange?

OK, I’ll bite. I am up late as i have been doing work round the clock for the students whom I advise on college admissions and just stopped for the night.

I’m a parent. My kids are ages 21 and 23. No, we don’t reward our kids with anything for grades or achievements or getting into college or grad schools (very good ones) or getting jobs and awards or anything. Both our kids are high achievers and frankly, are well accomplished, and always have been. They are self motivated and do not need extrinsic rewards. When they achieve great things, we tell them how happy we are for them and how proud we are. Nothing more.

(however, if you guys are gonna keep the level of conversation the way you have it so far, I’m sure this will go to the High School Life forum!)

Thanks soozie for bringing this ■■■■■ back onto topic.

When my D did well in school, she got a big hug, and I told her I loved her, that she was doing a great job. For those of you who actually think you should be paid, do well in your studies and get FA, wheter it be merit or need based. My D took the amount of her aid, divided by the # of hours she may haved studied in high school, and it turned out to be over $100 an hour.

No,I didn’t pay her for grades, doing well in school was her job. Her job is paying off in many ways already.

I didn’t pay my son for grades; I learned from someone else’s mistake. When I was in grad school, one of my classmates mentioned a student who had come to her begging for a few extra points to bump his score to an A. He explained to her that his father had offered him $50 for each A on his report card. She took him aside and said, “Sweetheart, I’m going to fix you up – you’re getting a very special report card this semester.” Yes, the kiddo took home a “special” report card with her signature, marked with eight As.
Of course they didn’t count, but poor dad hadn’t specified further.

Now, to get back off topic: @ red963, LAXer25, and others who were discussing the best dumpsters – at some point, kiddos, you’re going to want to take a date and make a good impression. Go inside. Ketchup packets and ice water make a nice gazpacho. ;)

I would only reward the ones that know ‘there’ from ‘their’.

Funniest thread of the week. Sorry I just got up and I missed all the fun. Oh and if anyone is counting:
NO I do not reward my kids. They are not dogs they are people.

I am jealous!!!

Not of the lexus, but the fact that this poster got such a funny thread going. I wish I had such talent!
