Do You Shop at Wal-Mart?

Do you shop at Wal-Mart?

Total amount of money spent at Wal-Mart every hour of every day - $36 million

Total number of employees - 1.4 million

Total number of stores - 4,625

Total sales annually - $405 billion

Amount per every U.S. dollar spent at Wal-Mart - 8 cents

Total number of customers per week - 100 million

Percentage of Americans who live within 15 minutes of a Wal-Mart - 90%

No I do not shop at Walmart.

No.

Aqua- I’m curious about why you start all these odd threads. Are you working on a sociology thesis or something? CC isn’t exactly a random sample of the population.

My husband shops there for toiletries and pet supplies. I go maybe once a year.

I live in a pretty urban area and I do not have a walmart within 15 minutes.
They seem to be located further out in the suburbs.

Does it matter? Don’t respond if you don’t like the threads.

No I don’t, and won’t.

I shop there at least once a week in my lunch break! Cheap and convenient!

Sent from my SGH-T989 using CC

I do not shop there. It is my idea of shopping hell.

It’s the internet. I get to ask questions, too!

It’s not like MOWC is the only one with that question.

Just sounds a little critical. I would hate people to be discouraged from asking fun or otherwise irrelevant questions that make this a fun place to go to.

I don’t shop there. They always start clean and after a year look dirty and dingy.

Heck yes! It’s like my second home. I’ve lived in some places where Walmart is the only store–and people drive an hour to go to the BIGGER Walmart.
I have plenty of choices where I live now, but still go back to Walmart for the prices.
Also a fan of Aldi.

No. I don’t even know if there’s one in my area.

I just googled, and the nearest WalMart is 10 miles away. We have tons of good shopping within a few minutes of our house, so I’ve never been there.

I am conflicted about WalMart and how they treat their employees. I have learned that the dollar stores,Target and Kmart are not much better with how they treat their employees. So, where is one to get paper products and toiletries at decent prices? Grocery stores often are more expensive on those things.

So, I have compromised to some degree. We bought a Costco membership at Christmas time. They pay their employees a decent wage. I buy there when I can, though the closest one is 45 minutes away.

In the meantime, I buy online from WalMart and have it delivered. It is free delivery if it equals $45 or more. I realize I am still giving them my business, but it keeps me out of the store and reduces impulse buying. So, I am giving them less business.

I will continue to try to find other places to buy stuff at affordable prices.

MOWC –

So sorry you are bothered by my “odd” threads. I’m new to CC, but I’ve already come across threads on all sorts of subjects such as patellar tracking disorder, peanut butter cookie recipes, window shades, sleeper sofas, accutane, fruit flies, reality TV shows, watery white wine, Bonnaroo, relationship doldrums, car rentals, and the list goes on. Why do think that my threads are odd? If they bother you so much, please feel free to skip over them.

Who else has objections to my “odd” threads? I’ve enjoyed the sense of community on the CC forum. I would hate to think that I’m not welcome to participate in the discussions.

Yes…but the SAME posters didn’t start all of those threads. Those folks started those threads to gain information about a specific topic that they needed info about. Just saying!

thumper1 --

Okay, so the issue is that I’m starting too many threads on "odd’ topics. Is there an unspoken rule on CC as to how many threads you’re allowed to post during a specific amount of time?

Not at all objecting. Just curious. I found the compilation of statistics in the restaurant thread unusual, that’s all. It’s something that is outside of the norm and I wondered if there was a reason or you just really like numbers.

You are, of course, welcome and an interesting poster. You’ve just made a splash, that’s all. Nothing wrong with that.
