Do you smell that... chances?

Hey, I’m Mike from South Jersey. Any chance I could get into the school that was far superior on my visits to colleges?

yeah its not much but I do alot with all of them (except NHS), you know have passions instead of being a part of a lot of organizations.

I’m a big Math guy.

I work as a bus boy at a local restaurant too.

Bleh with all that. I know my SAT scores are kinda low, but I’m retaking in Sept. Well, have a nice day!

Work hard on essays- they’ll carry s lot of weight.

be sure to show those passions because most other candidates will be able to blow you out of the water with quanity over your quality.

-just my two cents

I second that.

-Just my roll of twenties.

And speaking of that essay, have a literate adult look it over before you send it in. Your english teacher will be able to catch grammatical errors … but he or she may not be the best person to tell if the essay reflects your and ability to think cleary and creatively.

my teachers and “literate adults” didn’t really know what they were tlaking about. i had a buddy of mine who just happens to be a fantastic essayist give me a hand with mine – i thought it was more beneficial that way so you still get the age-group perspective.

being readable & gramatically correct are easy fixes… just reread the next day and then come back to it the next week, smack yourself for being dumb enough to say whatever you said in the first place, fix it, rinse & repeat.

I like the “rinse & repeat” correction method for essays- that’s what I used- I got in, so I guess it worked

Try to push the math thing for all its worth. Have you taken any of the AMC tests? Also, what does CTY stand for?

I don’t think I have taken any AMC.
CTY stands for center for talented youth, a program run by Johns Hopkins where 13-16 year olds can take courses with people who scored higher than the average college freshman on the SATs in 7th grade.

gotcha. i think you’re a match. Student council president is not something you often see with someone who has good stats like you, so that’ll work in your favor. Good luck

really, I would have thought that student council presidents would be the top academic students at a school. Then again, my student council president isn’t that bright-

Best of outcomes-

Just a thought: Have you looked into the ACT? If you are worried about test scores, you might look at it. I’m not an expert in admissions by any stretch, but some people do better on one than the other.
I would echo everyone else’s comments about the essays. They matter. Of all it’s peer schools, I’d venture to say that Chicago cares the least about standardized tests. They matter, but less than some other places from what I gather.

haha@ a “pubic” high school

Please relax, your record is amazing as a matter of fact. However, I don’t think you are going to get in because you are not that good. Sorry.

Luckily for us, admission decisions do not rest on Captain Dip **** here.

meng since when did you become the admission officer here
you would have said that i had no chance at all of even getting accepted to ANY Of the schools applied to, had u seen my stats.
seriously you’re ing me off with your attitude
and you expect us to welcome you? rightttt.
“sorry” my ass. you seem to enjoy being like an
* to everyone.

well said eric. as always.

mike, as ev1 has said, crank out some amazingly shining essays. i went through 10+ drafts for mine. and i also submitted a musical compositon i wrote that was based on julius caesar… something unique i guess :stuck_out_tongue:
good luck with the admissions process and dont take mind to any negative comments.
i got tons of “you have no chance” ****
and hey i got into my dream school.

Nickzo, or whatever-

You are a dumbass that has no clue of what the hell you are talking about. You really need to leave and get a life-

robertson, too bad he is a uchic class of 2010er. he can’t leave.

Mike-

Honestly, your stats look pretty darn good. I wish you all the luck and hope you are accepted.

cookie (and all)-

I bet Nick is an alright guy and just puts on an act for all of us here. Well, I guess we’ll see when September comes around.

in more ways than one, I hope not to see in september
