Do you think I can get in to UCLA, Berkeley?

I am currently a sophomore in high school, and I was evaluated as an English Learner (EL) student at the beginning of the year, and I had to take EL classes instead of regular English. Because of this, I wasn’t allowed to take honors or AP classes. Because my English was better than most EL students, I was able to get into regular English by 2nd semester. This year I think i’m going to finish with a 3.8 GPA (I have no honors, so it’s unweighted). I am also part of the swimming team in my high school, I have done community service (peer tutoring) and I am part of my schools FIRST robotics team, which I have heard is very popular among colleges. Next year I’m going to take 4 AP classes (and no, i’m not going to kill myself, because I have a lot of friends in AP classes, and it’s not very hard compared to the requirements of schools of where I come from) and I am going to remain in my extracurricular groups. I will also take the same APs senior year, but it’s not that important. Do you think I will be able to get in to UCLA, Berkeley, or maybe even Stanford if I perform similarly next year?

Also, I’m planning on taking the ACT, so what do you think I should get on that, based on my GPA and EC’s to qualify for those colleges?

Considering either UCLA or UCB being as competitive and selective as other Top universities in USA, you need to perform consistently. Having said this, it seems a bit too early to determine your chances without reviewing objective numbers such as GPA upto Junior year and SAT/ACT scores. It is just unfair and brutal to tell you whether you may get in or not at this stage. Therefore, you are requested to keep working hard without worrying too much in advance if the bridge collapses or not. Keep your high dreams and work diligently, then you will get in.

4 AP Classes is not that hard considering the classes. You need to work hard from here on out if you want to get into UCLA or UCB.

And, on top of what others said, aim for 32+/2150+…
