do you think i can still get in??

I am a senior from Ontario, Canada and I wanted to apply to HYP and I was also thinking about Cornell and Brown. My problem is that I don’t know if I stand a chance of getting in to the ivies because I did REALLY bad in grades 9-11 due to persal reasons (I think I ended up with a 69% avg. all together in those grades). In Grade 12 however, I worked/trained EXTREMELY hard and managed to pull it all together

For track I have recruited by virtually every Canadian University but with my situation, I dnt kno if my performance is enough to get me in. I come from a pretty poor black family and I am hoping to get a full track scholarship so tell me what you think…

obviousily the weakest part of my profile is my high school transcript in grades 9-11, but I did manage to drastically turn things around. Do you think HYP or any other ivy would wave my poor performance in early years in light of my athletic performance and other accomplishments???

I’m no expert on college admissions, but I would say go for it. Look into the programs/opportunities at the top schools and see which are your best fit and apply to those (as well as some safeties). You really have nothing to lose and will regret it if you never apply because you will never know for sure what could have happened. Make sure to address the grade issues in a heartfelt letter or shape it into a fantastic essay. Soemtimes, colleges want to see people who have overcome obstacles to be where they are! Good luck!

Thank you for taking the time to respond, you actually made me feel ALOT better.
Does anyone have any other advice?

thats interesting… i actually know someone who was in a similar situation and ended up getting into uc berkeley. you should most definitely give it a shot.

You should be aware there are NO athletic scholarships in the Ivy League. However, there is need based aid. You could still be recruited by the track team and receive need-based aid.

yea i kno…
but need-based aid is just another form of giving away scholarships
