What do you guys think?

It’s unlikely to happen anytime soon. I won’t say anything about the distant future because it’s near impossible to make accurate predictions about political organization so many years from now.

Well they’re really pushing towards it (standard currency, UN Security Council seat, etc.). But honestly, it simply wouldn’t work out.
- Control over it- the UK and France would probably fight over the ‘lead’ over it, followed by others like Italy and Germany

2) Too many major differences- language (we all know how the French are with their French), culture, geopolitical

3) Backgrounds of countries- major colonization and current economic/military powers like UK, France, Germany, Italy, Holland, Portugal mixed with the views and issues with previous USSR nations to the West.

4) Lack of a need for it- they’re all ready cooperating extremely well for trade and investment, and most of them are already part of NATO, so military cooperation is already there.

So yeah, I doubt it.

no way. way too much national pride in a lot of countries for that to happen.

I doubt it.

The lack of a unified language means that it will never happen.

Nope, unless all of the stated above fixed to be that way.

No, especially due to the economic crisis occurring in Greece (and possible one in Spain/Portugal). Everyone in the EU was forced into the Euro, which is now starting to cause these various economic crises (as the countries cannot change their exchange rates in relation to other European countries, which makes their debt hard to pay off). Its going to scare countries in the European Union from wanting to fully come together, especially when coming together will force the more affluent countries to have to hold up the burden of the lesser ones.

Learning about the UK this year, I know that they would be very opposed to this idea.

I’m not sure about other countries. But I don’t really see it happening.

No.

UK, France, and Germany especially would NEVER agree to become one country.

Never. It wouldn’t go down well in many of the nations that already have their citizens grumbling about their perceived ceding of autonomy to a larger organizations like the UN and EU, namely Germany and the UK - just look at the flak Merkel got when it came to Greece. France, in my opinion, just likes to complain about everything in general and would make a fuss in your proposed situation.

I don’t see EU unifying as a singular democratic state, more likely is a oligarchy coming into to power following such a crisis situation as natural disaster or nuclear holocaust.

Never. Too many differences.

No, the EU would definitely not become a country. The countries are just too different and it is meant as being a UNION of countries… not a country in and of itself. It just won’t happen (You can also already see that not all countries in the EU are following this push towards standardized rules, like Britain not accepting the Euro).
