@O2BonCC Actually it was also $279.99 exactly. I just shortened to $279!
If scammers would put half their effort into doing something meaningful, the world would be much more pleasant.
You all talk about calling Amazon . . . good luck finding a phone number!

I just ask my phone and it gives me customer service kinda easy…
Also frequently one with someone speaking in Chinese (?).
I get those too. I never answer the phone from callers I don’t know, so it goes to voicemail. I asked a colleague who speaks Chinese once what the message was about. Apparently I get packages delivered to the Chinese Embassy and they are calling to remind me to pick them up.
XXXAMAZONCOM
I’ve gotten those too! Saying my account has been compromised and they’ve closed it and I need to call to fix it. The subject line usually has a bunch of gibberish. S joked that the XXX is for the “adult” version of amazon…
I also got a weird email that was meant to look like an itunes receipt, but it’s a receipt for songs that I’d never buy and the billing address was in Estonia and the subject line just had random letters
Those Chinese calls are so annoying! I never answer, but they always leave a voicemail! I block the number right away. I haven’t gotten any since the beginning of November, so maybe they’ve given up on me? I hope so! And the numbers always seem similar to the phone numbers of my friends, relatives, and work place. Odd. Just this week I’ve gotten three calls about getting better rates on my home insurance, refinancing my mortgage, and bankruptcy counseling (first time for that one). The first one I answered without looking at the number (silly me!) and the last two they left a voicemail (why do they waste their time?!)
Oh and I got a voicemail last week from a number in Texas, asking about my child’s frequent absences from school and how he was falling behind. I don’t think that was a scam, just a wrong number.
I’d say that is definitely a scam. I mean why would a former colleague of your husband, who he hasn’t spoken to in a while or very much at all, email her colleague’s wife for help buying gifts on Amazon? Sounds fishy to me. If she really did forget her niece’s birthday, I would assume she has other friends and relatives she could ask for help?
Funny story: H received a phony email that was made to look like it came from me. It said that I really wanted him to click on a link to see beautiful, sexy ladies…
He still gives me a hard time about that. I’ve gotten some like that too, they’re made to look like they’ve come from my sister, mother, old high school friend…really?
