I almost bought the one at Costco the other day. After reading this thread, I think I’ll go back and buy it. I’m kind of tired of dragging out my big one.
I use my mini much more than my full size.
Today is the last day for the sale price at Costco.
Thanks for the heads up, @MaterS . I thought it was tomorrow. I guess I better get moving
How many cups is the mini?
The online description says 4 cups, @abasket .
Thanks - I bought one for my D1 last year - D2 might like one now that she his more into cooking - but don’t know that I can make it to Costco today!
Thank you all for your comments. I appreciate the feedback. I noticed the stick blender on sale and passed it by as DD does not seem to make soups. I have a stick blender and love it. It’s great for soups, sauces and gravy. I have to admit that I wore out the motor on my old one arecently, making cauliflower puree. I replaced it with a more powerful one but still decided a food processor is better for cauliflower puree, as I try to have as little liquid in it as possible and the stick blender is not intended for that type of job.
I use mine for fresh breadcrumbs and occasionally for nuts and things like that. Mine has a smaller bowl so it doesn’t work for much more and t doesn’t take much to cause the motor to start to be overworked. .
My 28 years old large cuisinart just bit the dust, so I’ll be replacing it with something similar, but I’ll keep the small one even if just for the breadcrumbs.
I love my small one and just noticed the plastic on the blade is cracked.
I need another one!
The Costco promos on the mini chopper and stick blender end today.
Mine is part of an immersion blender thingy, and I use all the parts frequently. It’s especially good for small amounts of pesto, vinaigrette, homemade mayo, aioli, etc.
If someone buys the Costco model would you please come back with a review. I am interested in knowing more about the reversible blade function. Does it reverse with each start?
I have that mini and there are two buttons to control it – grind and chop. The blade turns one way for grind and the opposite way for chop.
Interesting topic. I was looking into buy this and watched a few videos online. From what I saw, it chops well, but isn’t great at grinding. So it basically just does one thing. I do like fresh grated cheese, but this mini-processor does not offer grating as an option. The other drawback is that it is quite noisy - from the videos (and many, many comments on Amazon and Costco) you can hear a very high pitched sound when it is in use. Annoyingly high pitched. I didn’t get it finally.
FYI, at my Costco, the regular price is $25 which is still cheaper than I found it on Amazon.
I use that chop wizard all the time. Carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions, nuts, peppers, celery, eggplant, zucchini. Any vegetable for soup or stir fry or veggie hash. I use a mini-chopper to pulse oatmeal and carrots.
The mini is good for making bread crumbs, too!
ive used mine mainly for onions; it’s so helpful.
several of you have mentioned breadcrumbs. i’ve never chopped bread before. Do you use just regular bread? does it need to be dried out? just curious if you have any tips.
If you need dried breadcrumbs it’s better to use stale bread but if you’re just making breadcrumbs to put inside meatloaf you can use fresh bread. I often use breadcrumb toppings for casseroles so I just use whatever bread I have available (usually regular bread) and then stir them into some melted butter in a skillet to get them toasty and crisp before putting them over the casserole.
