Do You Watch The Debates???

^If you’re a college student, you think they’re all old. John Lennon was killed when I was 18 and I remember thinking, “Well, at least he had a good long life…”

Every time.

A bunch of young people stare at their IG feeds and Snapchat each other?

I watch the post debate reports. The actual debate is unwatchable. Too many candidates with no chance to win.

My D watches every debate with her friends. She feels like it helps her learn more about the whole process.

I’d rather have pins put in my eyes then watch the debates.

Tonight baseball is more exciting.

I have a BA in politics and am a politics geek. I still think baseball is more exciting tonight.

We moved from Iowa to California a couple years ago. I am liking this process better from California than I did in Iowa. I grew up in Iowa and I lived in the Des Moines area for 10 years before moving hear. All of the helicopters, airplanes, major TV personalities, etc went on for at least 2 years then just stopped the day after the caucus. The silence was eery.

I also have a husband that talks to the TV no matter what is on. I can not hear what the TV is saying he is so loud. I would rather hear him talking baseball then arguing with the political commentary that I barely heard.

I’m getting burned out on them, and I consider myself a big follower of politics. After this cycle, I’m thinking we ought to have some sort of time limitation so that we don’t have an almost four year ramp-up to elections.

DS2 already texted me his thoughts

Had to quit again half way through.

I watched the first one, lost patience with the second, and haven’t even attempted these last two.

Let me know when it’s down to no more than 5 people. I don’t like fighting, and people with 1% support, or less, who start sniping to get attention make me more than a bit crazy!

I do. Imho it’s a good way to educate yourself about issues and candidates to become a better voter.

Didn’t even make it that long.

I just read the live update from the NYT reporters. If there is an extraordinary moment I will watch that as I am recording for this purpose.

Yes, whenever possible.

I did and I thought it was interesting and learned more about the candidate’s positions. I was surprised after the debate that the political commentary and wrapup afterwards ignored a candidate that I thought had done a stellar job - this person’s name didn’t event get mentioned, though they did discuss the performance of several other non-front-runners. I wish the press didn’t end up condensing the message…so many people don’t want to vote or donate to someone they don’t think can win, and if the press keeps saying that a candidate has no chance of winning, well, it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. I encourage everyone to watch the debates next time!

I figure that I know who is going to get the Republican nomination this time around. I can try to figure out who to vote for in the Democratic primary. Thus I watched even though most of it was not much fun.

I think of it as a civic responsibility. It is more fun that a colonoscopy. Less fun than jury duty.

I kept bouncing back and forth between the debate an The Voice. I found that I was upset when I missed one if the Voice’s song pairing, so stayed mostly on that (enjoyed the Voice battles more than the debate battles!)

I was surprised at how much I’m liking three of the least popular candidates. Even though they probably don’t have a chance now, I hope we see them in the future. The one candidate I thought I’d be supporting doesn’t seem to do well in these debates. So the debates just added to my confusion.

That’s always my problem @toledo - I like the least popular candidates and then when it’s our turn to vote in the primary, they have long since been eliminated.

Any TV show I like doesn’t last long either…
