I’m considerring re-training for breaking the record. I’m a sophomore and Track and Field is coming up soon. I can easily break the record I think. If i just train a little bit. I was off last year by 8 seconds. I could’ve done it. Think it matters to college admissions? or no. ? thanks guys

1500m track and field running if ppl are unfamiliar for some reason.

it depends on what the colleges recruiting time is. Call the coach at the college ur interested in and ask.

Well. MY school’s time isn’t close to national record or anything. I was just wondering if having 1500 m record holder as an achievement would make a difference or should i not bother at all? I want to get into college, not based on sports btw.

o ok, i thought u wanted to be recruited. But anyways, yes it probably will matter in admissions but if you are not looking to be recruited, then the rest of your app has to be good (sat scores, gpa, ecs). Sports are just another thing on your resume.

A school record in the 1500 won’t be much help unless you are planning to run in college. There are lots of schools with really soft records. It will just show that you are serious about track as an EC.
