Does 30 to 32 make a difference?

I have applied to Vanderbilt, USC (December 1st Merit Scholarship Deadline), UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine, UCLA, Cal Poly SLO, CSU Long Beach.

I did not notify any of the schools in my app that I had future test sittings. I retook it in Dec and got a 32 (I submitted a 30 for my 1st sitting).

Am I able to in the recent score of 32 to those schools in time for review? And should I even bother or are my test scores sufficient for my chances in admission and scholarships?

2160 superscore (2120 one sitting - 690 CR, 690 Math, 740 Writing)
30 composite

You should be fine for the UCs and CSUs regardless of a 30 or 32, but a 32 will definitely help your chances at Vanderbilt and USC. Vanderbilt’s 25%-75% range is 32-34, so even a 32 would place you at the bottom 1/4 of the class.

Ok, also will they take only one test (either ACT or SAT) depending on which is higher?

32 is estimated 2120. But if they take into account CR-M only, it is equivalent to 1420.

My total is 2160 but CR-M 1380…

huge difference

The difference between 30 (95th percentile) and 32 (98th percentile) is huge. You go from being on the low end to many competitive schools to being very competitive for most schools.

It makes a difference of… let me grab my calculator…

2 points.

It can only help, you might want to try to get the scores in to the relevant schools if possible. Good luck!

Alright well I disregarded the UCs and CSUs like goldenbear said and sent them to Vandy and USC. Fingers crossed it gives me the competitive edge I need!

Btw @albert69 what did you do to get your avatar barred…?

Schools only take the highest score among the SAT and/or ACT. The ACT Composite is converted to an SAT CR+M equivalent out of 1600 (30 ACT = 1340 SAT, 32 ACT = 1420 SAT), so your 32 ACT is the highest among your 3 test scores.

I’d send the 32 to all the schools.

@philargyrist As you can tell, I like sarcasm. Let’s just say that I let my sarcasm run away with me and stepped on the wrong posters toes.
