Does it count as a C or D? Really confused because I used collegeboard 4.0 gpa conversion.

I would count it as a C-, not a D.

(Or an A in most engineering classes at Cal, ha)

Alright thanks, but since its for a high school transcript does that mean the 70 counts as a C?
The problem is because I have asked around and there are apparently two grading systems, one is 70-79 is a C, while the other 75-79 is a C and 70-74 is a D. Which one does UC Berkeley consider?

What does your high school grading system say? That’s what you should go by. I’ve never heard of a 70-74 being a D, but of that’s the case at your high school then you’ll have to use it.

Well the problem is that we were told to use the collegeboard gpa conversion to a 4.0 GPA scale, which regards the 70 as a C, but in our system it says the 70 is a D. So I am unsure. The counselors also had told us to use the collegeboard conversion for our applications which is what’s making it slightly confusing.

100-93 A
85-92 B
75-84 C
70-74 D
69-00 F

FWIW but that is just at my school.

Do you think I will be rescinded? The 70 was a grade for IB Spanish 4. If it does count as a D my GPA would be a 2.87. The reason it is so low is because I had a lot of activities going on this semester. First semester my GPA was a 3.8. During this semester I was sick for almost two weeks, and that made me fall behind. Plus I had been studying for five other mathematics classes(differential equations, real analysis, multivariate calculus, statistics, and linear algebra). The reason for this was because I had originally planned to take courses at my local university this year but couldn’t due to scheduling conflict, so I have been teaching myself instead. And I had also taken a class that was meant to be two semester in one semester this last semester. In addition I have been working on a community service project(more than 150 hours) on cleaning up our school campus, whilst also spending a couple hundred hours preparing training materials and training the mathematics team.

BTW my chosen major on my app was physics for which I have 4.0 for both my AP Physics class and Calculus BC class.

The several days out due to illness really destroyed my grade in Spanish because I have always had difficulties with Spanish. For comparison I had a 81 first semester for Spanish 4.
