i have just found out that i am failing a class. other than this one class i have an outstanding GPA so you could understand how devastating this is. i am transferring from one CC to another in the fall. But i am trying out for the new schools cheerleading team this week, the requirement to tryout and is to have atleast a 2.0 GPA. which is not problem for me, but i am wondering if when my final transcripts are sent this week if the failed class will appear or if just the GPA will??? because i am not sure what the policy for the team is on failed classes. if it is possible could i contact the new school and ask them to disregard the transcript from the old school??? i am just trying to make sure all of my bases are covered. any information that any one has on the subject is welcome!! thank you in advance
also want to add that i have been back an fourth emailing with my professor about possibly leaving my grade at an incomplete instead of failed for the time being if that at all helps the situation?
You need to ask the cheerleading team about its policy on GPA for new transfer students. Of course, if your prior GPA is less than 2.0, there may be other policies unrelated to the cheerleading team at the new school.
In most cases, your GPA at the new school will only be based on courses taken at the new school (though there are some exceptions when transferring between two schools in the same system). However, all courses and grades at all colleges will be considered by graduate and professional schools, and employers who care about seeing your courses and grades. Also, the new school or major department may have policies against counting courses with lower grades for subject credit (e.g. if you got a D+ or lower in a major requirement, you may have to retake it).
so what your saying is that no matter my gpa at my old school, it will be reset at the new school? and i believe that the policy for new transfer students is a 2.0 gpa. im just wondering if my failed class will be brought into play when looking at my GPA to see if i am eligible.
If there is a GPA policy for new transfer students, then it can only be based on prior college GPA, since you have no GPA yet at the new college. However, with only a few exceptions, your GPA at the new college is only based on grades earned in courses at the new college (check your new college’s policy to make sure it is not one of the exceptions).
do you believe that when reviewing my GPA to see if i am eligible to even tryout, that the coaches running the tryouts will come to find my failed class or will just my GPA transferred to the new school?
You need to ask the cheerleading team directly rather than rely on speculation from people on the forum.
is there a way to delete this post??? i am thankful for the advice but i dont want my username just floating around out there with this information
