does a leap of faith fall under a cliche to be omitted?

The title should make it clear.

Are we supposed not to write a leap of faith in essays. I mean Is the phrase leap of faith a cliche to be omitted.

If so can any of you suggest some metaphor or illustration for the same.

I would be really grateful.

No, it’s fine to use as a phrase. Though as a topic it would probably be a bit too common.

The old writing “rule” about avoiding cliches is to prevent your paper from being filled with overused comparisons like “tight as a drum,” “black as night,” or “loud as thunder” etc.

Thank you. that was really helpful.
