Does A Rec For My Supervisor Count As A Teacher Rec?

I think because of NU’s Co-Op program, a letter of rec fromy supervisor at work would be better…can that take place of the teacher rec or no?

NO! Not at all! Do not send that in! I worked for the admissions office, and they would absolutely NOT accept it as a teacher rec.

What about a teacher rec AND a rec from my supervisor?

If they want two teacher recs, send in two teacher recs. Sending in a teacher rec and one from your supervisor will equal one teacher rec, which is an incomplete application and you will be rejected.

If you are determined to send in the rec from your supervisor, CALL admissions to see if you can add it as supplemental material. If they say yes, then sure go for it. However some schools (not sure if NU is one of them) get very very angry if you put stuff other than portfolios or research in your supplemental materials, because its one more document they have to read. NU had a record 12k applicants for EA this year, so they might get angry if you try to send it in without okay-ing it first.
