Does a sibling taking a class at CC count as another family member in college?

<p>If my younger brother takes a single math course THIS summer at a community college, do/can I put him down on my FAFSA and CSS PROFILE as another college student in the family?</p>

<p>I don’t believe you can count your sibling as another college student unless they are matriculated student taking at least a half time load of courses. Taking ONE course in the summer would not count.</p>

<p>My counselor said I’ll be able to do so but he didn’t specify whether only one course would count. Also I went to a seminar about financial aid and they suggest another family member take a community college course. I’d like to make sure with a couple more people here to see if that’s true.</p>

<p>This is from last year’s fafsa but the rule is the same. You can only include others on your fafsa if they are enrolled at least half time in a program leading to a degree or certificate:</p>

<p>We had siblings in college at the same time. Both of their universities required a signed verification of enrollment which was done about the 3rd week of the fall term. The colleges had to verify at least half time enrollment for the academic year.</p>
