Reseived acceptance official email but no any mentioning of merit. Is merit comming later? Nothing is in portal…Student is very upset.
Calling @tsbna44.
I don’t have a student applying this year, but for last year…
My daughter’s acceptance letter was dated Sept 29 and did not mention merit. Another letter, dated Oct 9, contained the merit information.
I feel like it was the same pattern for my HS class of 2022 kid as well. In any case, if you are looking at the chart for automatic merit, that is what will be awarded. If you are wanting competitive merit (no scores?), then that comes later in the year.
If your student is eligible for automatic scholarships…they will get them.
@tsbna44…is there a scholarship application as well as the admissions application…or is nothing else needed for the auto scholarships?
From the University of Alabama website…
Notifications
Qualifying admitted students will automatically receive automatic merit scholarships. Notifications are sent approximately two weeks following admission or submission of official test scores from the testing agency.
The automatic is truly automatic. Competitive scholarships use an application. Last year at least, it was filled out with answers from the common app.
@tsbna44 your thoughts?
Yes - it was answered above by @Luanne
Merit is automatic - and then there’s a scholarship app - it lists lots of specific ones - like if your parent worked at this bank…but it’s general too.
It took my daughter from $24 to $28K - so fill it out. That’s a post acceptance app.
