<p>I applied to Carnegie Mellon( Business); I know my GPA and scores are below its average, so i really dont have high hopes lol; but will a really good alumni recommendation help, even just a little? The director of the middle school robotics program where I volunteer at, just happens to be a CMU alumni, she wrote an amazing recommendation for me, and sent it directly to CMU, with the district’s official envelope and letterhead. Each year we build an AUV (short for Autonomous Underwater vehicle) to compete in the AUVSI’s international AUV competition (sponsored by the US naval warfare center).
Only high school team in an all university competition.
In 2007 we placed 13th out of 30 universities; Beating MIT, and DUKE University.</p>
