Does Anosmia Count?

I have Anosmia, which is the utter lack of a sense of smell. Does that count as some type of disability? I wouldn’t think so, however a friend argued that it does in terms of point calculations. What are your thoughts on this?

You don’t have to smell disgusting smells like rotting flesh, excrement, bad breath, cheap perfume and other assorted nasties, which could be an advantage. However, you also can’t smell a gas leak or other noxious volatiles that alert people to danger. You could get over exposed to something that could destroy the cilia and protective membranes in your nose (that protect against pathogens) because you can’t smell the danger that alerts you to STOP sniffing. That would be a severe disability. I would put that in, I suppose :)

Overall, I would say so. It’s the loss of a sense, just like being blind or deaf.
