does anybody know about how elite colleges put students in different pools?

<p>This is my expectation </p>

<p>Pool 1: So-called ‘wonder students’ (top grades, 500 clubs, 6000 hours of service, x olympiad 2nd place, blahblahblah)</p>

<p>Pool 2: Decent grades and ECs.</p>

<p>Pool 3: Grades through the roof, but few EC</p>

<p>Pool 4: High grades and ECs -not mid or upper class</p>

<p>Pool 5: Athletic recruits. </p>

<p>I don’t know if URMs should be in a separate pool.</p>

<p>In reality how do you think the different pools do? </p>

<p>Pool 1: HYPMS
Pool 2: Depending on personality, it varies.
Pool 3: Top 30 Schools with 2200+ SATs, Top Public Schools with 1900+ Sats
Pool 4: maybe HPYMS, and Top 30 Schools
Pool 5: Wherever they want, lol?</p>

<p>I think a lot depends on the sat score…</p>
