Does anyone ever have really messed up thoughts about their rommate

I know this is really weird and messed up but on random nights when I can’t fall asleep my mind wanders to the most random places and very few times I think to myself “the moment I shut my eyes and go to sleep my roommate can easily sneak out of his bed and strangle me with a rope”

I never think like this it’s so weird for me lol and don’t get me wrong my roommate is the nicest dude in our hall way

Something similar almost happened to someone I know, so it’s not THAT weird.

I was on a week long trip over the summer to become acquainted with incoming Freshmen in my school’s honors college - and we had to live in dormitories on an island; I was rooming with a girl who was very nice to me but when I was in bed, thinking, like you mentioned, I did fear that my roommate could easily smother me with a pillow while I was asleep.

I think intrusive “messed up” thoughts are more common than you think - I remember watching a neuroscience/psychology video on different scenarios where people think pretty awful things. A lot of times people realize that they could just mow down a pedestrian in a cross walk while they’re in the car. Or sometime people think about shoving people in front of a train in the subway as it pulls in (or they fear being shoved themselves.) Lots of terrible things; and many people report having such thoughts. While they’re not pleasant of course, they’re not abnormal either.
